Millions of thanks to all mothers and friends from over the HK Island, Discovery Bay and Tung Chung last week, DB Mothers & Friends began our first week of the month by such a significant number of beneficiaries from our environmental and social friendly work – Preloved items Collection on Wednesday & Saturday –

72 direct beneficiaries underprivileged low income local families and kids and refugees, 3 charity partners and 1 local secondary school!
Long-winded I am as usual 😛 our report is going to be long this time:
1st, ENVIRONMENTALLY, we saved 2 5.5-tonne truck size of preloved items like furniture, appliances, clothes, toys, books, household and kitchen wares etc from landfills of HK when people are moving, leaving HK and downsizing due to growth of family size etc. We do not want to imagine all these quality items going to wastes and be buried in our limited landfill areas in HK for more pollution. Instead, we have given lives again for the items and happiness among our underprivileged beneficiaries! 😊
2nd, SOCIALLY, among the 72 beneficiaries:
> 11 were from 3 different African, Rwandan refugees families and kids, single mom, living in To Kwa Wan,

receiving toys, clothes and books from us;
> 58 were from low income families from Yat Tung Housing Estate, via the EN-Free Shop event of Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (Yat Tung). Thanks to the coordination of Leung, the social worker of NAAC,

receiving a van of toys, clothes, books, stroller, household and kitchenwares from us;
> 2 were the principals of a local secondary school in North Point,

receiving 2 office chairs from us;
> 1 was from a low income and unemployed young family of 4 living in a cubicle unit,

receiving a part time moving job offer to earn some money for his family both on Wednesday and Saturday.
> 2 full Environmental Toy Houses donations for CHRISTIAN ACTION – they are going to resell the items to earn the operation funds for their charity projects of helping physically challenged orphans in China, refugees and new immigrants and many more community work in HK!
> 2 full truck of furniture and appliances donations for CROSSROADS FOUNDATION, both Wednesday and Saturday – half of the collected items will benefit locally and half internationally! Their prompt thank-you emails are following below!
> 1 van of donation for Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (Yat Tung) on Saturday, items collected on Lantau stayed on Lantau to help those in need! How wonderful!
Last but not least, the beneficiary school was C.C.C. Kwei Wah Shan College, a local secondary school – 2 office chairs for the principals. It might be notorious that our HK govt has not allocated enough fundings in HK Education. Redistributing useful items for local schools makes me so happy to be able to help a little!

Thanks to Nidhi for volunteering the Tung Chung drop-off session!

Enjoy the happy photos following! 😊
